Sympathy for the Coyote

I just finished Sympathy for the Coyote, an essay on the Coyote-Road Runner series. The cartoon poses problems for all the famous philosophical theories related to humor. I try to resolve some of these problems and in the process highlight some limitations of the theories.

The virtues of Machiavelli

I just posted my seminar essay on the concept of virtue in Machiavelli. According to my analysis, he uses the concept in four senses: moral virtue, skill, force and utility.

New wallpaper

There is a new collection of wallpaper available, even if it’s mostly for my personal nostalgia purposes. It’s a selection of photos I took last year in Tuscany. Enjoy and let me know if you like it!

An update for a change

As everyone knows by now, I am back in Helsinki. The fact that there have been no visible updates here in months does not mean the site has not been updated. (Neither does it mean that I spend all my time on Facebook.) While in Florence, I obviously wrote for the blog. There are some other things too.

For the near future, as I will be working on my Master’s thesis, the updates will be related to Machiavelli. I have translated a poem and I am thinking of translating an important letter by him, and very likely they will both end up on the site. The musical projects are right now on hold, but I have lots of ideas I want to try out.

I am in Florence

Yes I am. It is nice here. Read my blog if you are interested.
